Estimated around 2 million deer in the UK.
£4.3m a year – The costs of deer damage to crops, according to DEFRA with greatest damage on cereal crops in the east and south of England. 50%: The decline in woodland bird numbers where deer are present, according to the University of East Anglia’s Dr Paul Dolman: “Deer will eat the understorey and so the coppices, for example, lose their shrub layer. That can be a problem for nightingales and other long-distance migrants, such as willow warblers, chiffchaffs and blackcaps
74,000 – The number of road traffic accidents a year involving deer which injure over 400 motorists and killing between 10-20 people according to the RSPCA.
£2m – The cost for 1 human fatality caused by a deer in a RTC (road traffic collision)

Deer can carry a number of diseases but there are 5 that are harmful to human, some have never been reported in the UK but it’s our responsibility as ‘trained professionals’ to inspect and identify these diseases.
